Pittsburgh, Pa. − January 8, 2026 − This morning, Senator Lindsey M. Williams joined the Northland Library community and other local leaders for a ribbon cutting ceremony celebrating the completion of the “New Northland.”

“The New Northland is an incredible example of a third space, where we build community by giving people somewhere they can feel welcome and included,” said Senator Williams. “That’s why I’ve been proud to work with Executive Director Amy Steele and her entire team, as well as other local elected officials, to secure funding for this renovation. From the new Commonplace Coffee Café to the updated teen hang-out space to the new conference room, Northland is ready to inspire conversations and connections across the North Hills area.”

This ribbon cutting marks the completion of a $4.1 million renovation to the Northland Library, one of the busiest public libraries in Allegheny County. Senator Williams worked with the library to help secure several state grants to help fund the project, including a $150,000 GEDTF grant, a $500,000 LSA grant, and a $650,000 Multi-Purpose Community Facilities Grant.
