Jeanne McNeill (D-133) announced their intent to champion Governor Shapiro’s legislation to support working families across Pennsylvania by strengthening and expanding our childcare workforce.

Proposed bill would close a critical loophole in state law, empowering municipalities to prevent exploitative pricing during declared local emergencies 

Pittsburgh, PA –  Puede 5, 2025 – In the wake of last week’s deadly storm, today, Mayor Ed Gainey is leading an effort in partnership with County Executive Sara Innamorato, State Senator Lindsey Williams, State Representative Aerion Abney, and other members of the state legislative delegation to protect Pittsburghers against exploitative businesses, contractors, and corporations engaged in price gouging essential goods and services after disasters.  As part of the effort, Mayor Gainey will introduce an amendment to close a loophole in the Pennsylvania Price Gouging Act that would ensure the provisions apply to locally declared emergency declarations like the one he declared last week.  

 

Pittsburgh, PA − Puede 1, 2025 − On Martes, Senator Lindsey M. Williams (D-Allegheny) joined transit advocates and riders for a rally in support of increased statewide investment in public transportation. Martes also marked the first of a series of public hearings that Pittsburgh Regional Transit will hold to hear feedback from riders and the community on a series of proposed service cuts.

During the rally, Senator Williams, who also serves on the board of PRT, announced that she and Nikil Saval (D-Philadelphia) will introduce the Transit for All PA! legislation package, a suite of legislative proposals to help secure full funding for transit agencies across Pennsylvania. Rep. Aerion Abney (D-19) and Rep. Jessica Benham (D-36) will introduce companion legislation in the House.

PITTSBURGH, PA − Abril 15, 2025 − Today, Senate Democratic Policy Committee Chair Nick Miller held a hearing to examine the needs of regional mass transit systems and assess ways to ensure that their benefits remain accessible to residents and local businesses in Pennsylvania.

Pittsburgh, Pa. − Abril 10, 2025 − Senator Lindsey M. Williams, Democratic Chair of the Senate Education Committee, issued this statement following Governor Josh Shapiro’s announcement that he is suing the Trump Administration over the early termination of ESSER funds to school districts:

“I am grateful to Governor Shapiro for stepping in and pursuing legal action on behalf of school districts, students, and taxpayers across Pennsylvania. These districts were relying on millions of federal dollars to make repairs and upgrades to facilities, provide mental health supports to students, purchase needed supplies, and continue their work of educating our students. Pulling the rug out from under these districts – a $15 million rug in the case of Pittsburgh Public Schools alone—is especially cruel in light of ongoing threats to public education and other federal funds being threatened or cut by the Trump Administration. We cannot stand by and watch our children’s education and their futures being sacrificed in the name of further tax cuts for the richest people in the world.”
