Pittsburgh, Pa. − January 23, 2020 − Senator Lindsey M. Williams announced today that the Goat Rodeo Farm & Dairy in Indiana Township will receive a $98,316 grant from the Pennsylvania Dairy Investment Program for expansion.
Goat Rodeo Farm & Dairy plans to use the grant funds to expand their current milk processing capacity in order to increase production of their goat and cow milk cheeses. This family-owned and operated farm recently won several awards at the 2020 Pennsylvania Farm Show, including First Place in the Goat’s Milk Cheese category for their Hootenanny Gouda cheese and First Place in the Flavored Cheese category for their Wild Rosemary mixed milk cheese.
“I’m very excited to see a family-owned business like the Goat Rodeo Farm & Dairy receive this sort of funding,” said Senator Williams. “In addition to producing amazing cheeses, they are great partners with other local farms and retailers. I’m happy to see the investment in our local small businesses and look forward to seeing their great work continue!”
The PA Dairy Investment Program is jointly administered by the Department of Community and Economic Development (DCED) and Department of Agriculture (PDA). Grants are awarded to eligible institutions for projects including research and development; transition to certified organic production, processing, and distribution; value-added processing; and marketing support of Pennsylvania’s dairy industry.
