Pittsburgh, Pa. − March 13, 2025 − Senator Lindsey M. Williams announced today that Cooper-Siegel Community Library and Northern Tier Regional Library have received Keystone Library grants to assist with their ongoing construction projects. Each of these libraries is renovating to become more accessible and meet the needs of patrons.
“Northern Tier Library and Cooper-Siegel Community Library serve as all-important ‘third spaces’ in our communities, where people of all ages can come to gather, to study, to read, or to just be,” said Senator Williams. “This funding will help ensure that the libraries can continue to provide the space and accommodations that people of all ages and abilities need to explore new subjects, meet new friends, and learn things that we couldn’t even imagine today. I’m incredibly proud to partner with our libraries to bring these resources into our communities.”
The Northern Tier Regional Library will receive $91,831.50 towards the construction of new restroom facilities. The library plans to completely reconfigure the existing 30-year-old bathrooms and install new ADA-compliant facilities, including a family restroom.
Cooper-Siegel Community Library will receive $750,000 towards a major renovation project to finish the lower level of their current building, adding a large conference room, three additional small group meeting rooms, a dedicated makerspace, a flexible multi-purpose area, and a new open staircase. These new additions will add an additional 6,500 square feet of space to the existing library and help meet the current and future needs of the growing community.
Senator Williams is committed to advocating alongside local partners to build community throughout the 38th Senatorial District. For information or help navigating state grant and award programs, please contact her office.
