Pittsburgh, PA – September 2, 2026 − Mayor Corey O’Connor and State Senator Lindsey Williams have announced that the City of Pittsburgh has received a $200,000 grant from the Pennsylvania Department of Community and Economic Development’s (DCED) Community and Economic Assistance Program for a series of projects. The funding will be used for upgrades at Farmhouse Field in Highland Park, new water fountains and the Allegheny Riverfront Trail Connectivity Planning Project.
“This is another generous state investment in our parks and trails so that our residents, kids and families have high-quality outdoor spaces to enjoy together,” said Mayor Corey O’Connor. “I’d like to thank State Senator Lindsey Williams for her support in bringing this funding to our local communities.”
A portion of the grant will be invested in modernizations at Farmhouse Field, as well as to add new water fountains in several neighborhoods to help improve the use of parks for youth and families
“I’m happy to support this investment into the City that will help residents easily get outside and exercise, play and connect with their neighbors,” said Senator Williams. “Community spaces like our parks, trails and sports fields are key to our mental, physical and community health. These improvements will ensure that the next generation of Pittsburgh families can take advantage of these benefits for years to come.”
The other portion of the grant will be used to begin the planning process of exploring new and expanded trail connections to link eastern neighborhoods to the Allegheny River trail network. Connections could link Highland Park, Lincoln-Lemington-Belmar, Larimer and Morningside to the Allegheny Riverfront Trail and the Brilliant Line trail.
