Effective Marzo 19, 2020, Governor directed all non-life sustaining businesses – including hearing aid fitters and dealers – to cease any new sales of hearing aids throughout the duration of the Governor’s Order. We ask fitters and dealers during this closure to remain available (i.e. via call forwarding) to speak to customers as emergency issues may arise. Due to this closure, no hearing aid registration certificates will expire on Abril 15, 2020 as required by 35 P.S. § 6700-311. Registrants will have an additional thirty (30) days upon reopening to renew their registration.

DOH provides the following guidance to hearing aid fitters and dealers currently:

1. No new sales of hearing aids are permitted. Failure to adhere to this restriction may result in potential sanctions including, but not limited to, the revocation of a registration certificate.

2. All currently scheduled appointments should be postponed and rescheduled.

3. Hearing aid storefronts must be closed.

4. Repairs, batteries, delivery of already ordered aids, and follow-up care permitted on a limited basis as necessary and by appointment only.

5. The return and refund of hearing aids sold prior to Marzo 19, 2020, are permitted on a limited basis and shall be honored if a hearing aid is returned within thirty-days (30) of the date the hearing aid was sold in accordance with 35 P.S. § 6700-504.1.

6. Contact information shall be posted on website and storefront for customers who may have issues arise.

7. Unless a medical emergency, no nursing home sales or follow-ups unless contacted and approved by a Nursing Home Administrator.

8. If an appointment is necessary due to an emergency, schedule only one client at the business at a time.

9. After any emergency appointment, sanitize and clean any business and testing/repair equipment before and after any interactions with clients.
